Located in the heart of the Brush Country, Rockin' 7
Quarter Horses, owned by the Watts family of
Charlotte, Texas has been breeding, training and
selling high quality quarter horses for a number of
years and has earned an outstanding reputation along
the way.
Mickey Clark, OK Ranch cutting trainer, says of
Shiney Lynx, "He is one of the better two year olds
I've ever started. A real bid stopper, good minded
and lots of cow. He's a real big athlete." Shiney
Lynx, owned by OK Ranch, is a son of Rockin' 7
Quarter Horse stallion All American Shiner and out
of Darlin Dorsi, a Docs Lynx mare.
All American Shiner is an own son of AQHA World
Champion Reiner, Shining Spark. All American Shiner
is an AQHA Point Earner in team roping and has get
in training for cutting, reining and team ropng.
His
get are as pretty as they are athletic, ready to
meet your needs in the show pen or on the working
cattle ranch.
Debra
Smith has had many years of experience with Rockin'
7 Quarter Horses. She said, "We have been doing
business with Rockin 7 Quarter Horses since 1990
when we purchased my daughter's first horse. We've
purchased horses from Scott Watts and have bred our
mares to his stallions."
She
continued, "Our mares have been well cared for
during their stay in the breeding season at Scott's
barn. Rocking 7 Quarter Horses has stallions with
outstanding bloodlines. We have colts that we have
raised and have kept out of three of his stallions,
All American Shiner, My Oleana Dunit and Starsky Glo
Freckles, also known as 'Frito'. We use the horses
in everyday ranch work, team roping and barrel
racing."
Of
Rockin' 7's business practices, Debra said, "Scott
is a fair business man. I would do business with
Scott with or without a breeding contract due to the
fact that he has always stood by his word. What he
tells you in the beginning is where it will be in
the end."
Heather Young is another Rockin' 7 fan who has
enjoyed owning one of All American Shiner's get. She
said, "In February, 2005, I purchased Shine N
Silver, a daughter of All American Shiner, from
Rockin' 7 Quarter Horses. I have really enjoyed
training Shine N Silver. She is very trainable, has
a lot of cow and a natural stop. This mare is quiet,
low-headed and just really sensible."
She
added, "I really favored All American Shiner's
characteristics. Therefore, I bred two of my brood
mares to him in 2005. One mare is Joanns Gold, a
4-time PHBA world champion reining and working
cowhorse. Joanns Gold is a very intricate mare to
breed and Scott Watts is knowledgeable enough that
he was able to have her in foal. I had a very
pleasant experience doing business with Rockin 7
Quarter Horses."
She
concluded, "I feel that All American Shiner has the
conformation, athleticism and pedigree to be a great
sire. I think he is truly an asset to Central and
South Texas.
Both
Smith and Young continue to trust their breeding
needs of their operations to Rockin' 7 Quarter
Horses. A large percentage of the activity generated
at Rockin' 7 is due to repeat business, which is a
testimony to the satisfaction enjoyed by the
clientele.
Another favorite among Rockin' 7 customers is Dusty
Dry Chex who is by Dusty Dry Tivio by Smart Chic
Olena out of Sharn Check by Snicklefritz Chex. Dusty
Dry Chex is an extraordinarily good looking stallion
with attractive markings and great conformation.
In
2006 Just Plain Dun It, a dun stallion owned by
Kinleigh Rosenhauer came to stand at Rockin' 7. Just
Plain Dun It carries the famous Hollywood Dun It
genetics on his sire's side and She's Just Plain,
his dam, is the 3/4 sister to the AQHA reining horse
of the decade for the 1990's. He also carries the
great bloodlines of Colonel Freckles, King Fritz and
Doc Bar.
Rosenhauer says, "If you are looking for a gentle,
yet athletic, good minded sire with plenty of cow,
and a dun that has the classic tiger striped legs
with black points, and all the best bloodlines in
one package, then this is your horse.

Rounding out the Rockin' 7 stallion lineup is Major
Dad Challenge by NCHA money earner Major Vaquero out
of Major Affair. Know as "Dozer" because of his
powerful, muscular build, this horse has a lot of
"want to", agility, and an even disposition.
Pictures of Dozer being ridden double by the Watts
children, Hannah (then 4 years old) and Davis (then
9) were featured on the cover of the February 2006
edition of Texas Horse News.
In
addition to standing these exceptional stallions,
Rockin' 7 also runs a large band of impressively
pedigreed brood mares. The 2007 foal crop looks to
be one of the best yet!
Scott
Watts his wife Ann, their son, Davis, and daughter,
Hannah regularly host people seeking training for
both their horses and themselves. In Scott's spare
time he gives roping lessons and puts on Youth
Roping Schools at Rockin' 7. He has also taken the
roping school on the road to Eagle Pass and into
Mexico.
Scott
says of the horse business, "It's a lot of hard work
but well worth it. My customers have turned into
some really good friends. Our families get together
to rope and barbecue. Not only have I been fortunate
enough to work with some really great horses, I have
met some extraordinary people in this business."
Scott and everyone at
Rockin' 7 look forward to meeting you and having the
privilege of working with your horses.
